It sucks because they had the perfect trilogy (okay I didn't
love 2 or 3 but they were decent enough and it told a great story of Sydney Prescott's fight for survival and to preserve her mother's good name).
Now it's basically every other horror franchise that is being churned out for the hell of it just to make cheap cash. Wes Craven took the project on because he believed in Kevin Williamson's script and what it said about the current state of horror back in the 90's. Now it's just being done because it can be, instead of because it should be.
