I think Josh would not have gotten away with sacrificing Marissa's POV to the extent he did, especially about her sexual assault. But Ryan needed to face why he would go from comparing Marissa to girls like Jess, to calling her when he needed a getaway car and an alibi for the cops - which she gave without question, incidentally. Marissa was not nearly as prone to judging Ryan as a person as he was to her - and she also was not nearly as prone to it as other girls he dated.
