Here's a film I would categorize more as a thriller (murder plot plays out) but definitely shows the dramatic elements of how Romance can be completely manipulated for a selfish woman's gain and how passion/love are two different things ~
Blind Corner [1963]
Wiki's outline of the movie:
A blind composer's (William Sylvester) wife (Barbara Shelley) and her artist lover try to kill him.
Anne (the wife) is such a ruthless/nasty person; I felt so sorry for her husband was being totally blind-sided (pun intended) by her affair and plot to kill him. Luckily, he's smarter than she thinks.
Props to the role played by Alexander Davion who plays the lover, Rickie - he's not just the jerk boyfriend who wants her husband dead, too. He actually has a conscience.
