I never had a problem with Departure. I mean it's better than how "Destiny" ended. I can fastforward certain scenes and concentrate on the bittersweetness, and Liz saving the day. And they left the idea that Max and Liz were making it work. Yet, it would be hard, and they would never be able to go back to being who they were... despite trying.
Destiny is a great 2/3 of a episode, and the last 10 minutes ruin it. Liz walking away. Despite Max being just tortured. I can see why she would do it. But at least Departure left the liklihood that they would make it work.
Thankfully we had Season 3 to get that ending. To see their happy ending.
